I DID IT!

It took 5hrs 53 minutes 19 seconds, and at times it wasn't pretty, but I made it over the finish line & I'm pretty sure I had a big, stupid grin on my face when I got there.

It was a totally amazing experience and I'm so pleased to have done it, but I'm not sure I will be rushing out to run 26.2miles again anytime soon.

New York is an amazing place to take on such a major challenge. The crowds were truly fantastic with their support - I heard so many cries and cheers of GO BEX (not always from cousin Hugo!) that there was no way I wasn't going to finish.

I had a hard time about half way through - painful stitch I couldn't shake and just feeling completely knackered really. It was also a quiet area, and the bloody mountainous bridges felt like they would go on for ever. But then at about mile 16 the route goes into Manhattan, and the bigger crowds and feeling of actually getting closer to the end gave me a real push. Seeing Hugo and his fanatastic cheerleading skills in the Bronx, and again in Harlem also worked wonders, and in fact the last few miles were some of the quickest!

Back home now and back to reality, but with some amazing memories and really rather wobbly legs to show for it. Oh, and a lovely big medal which I plan to wear for at least a week, maybe two!
