Flora London Marathon 2009 · 26 April 2009 ·

AFK is a disability and neurodiversity charity providing support to children and young people across the UK. We assist young people in accessing specialised mobility equipment that isn't available on the NHS and routes to paid employment in an effort to close the disability employment gap.

Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. On April 26th I'll be running my 1st London Marathon to raise money for Action for Kids, a charity which does some amazing work providing support for children and young people with learning difficulties and disabilities, and their families. Their website is www.actionforkids.org. I was staggered to learn that the average cost of a piece of mobility equipment on the Action for Kids waiting list is a massive £6,884. This could make a real difference to a child's independence and play. I signed up for the marathon, spurred on by the half marathon I ran in October, also for Action for Kids but I have never run the full 26 miles before. Despite an achillies problem which has frustrated my training, I am determined to take part in the event, and complete the challenge. My aim is to have some fun, to enjoy the experience and the atmosphere on the day and continue raising money for this really worthwhile charity. You know what to do! Your money will make a real difference. Please support me and Action for Kids by sponsoring me now! Many thanks, Becci x
