Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
As many of you will have heard, or at least realised by noticing me hobbling round stiff after a long run or complaining that yet another of my toe nails has gone black!! I've spent the last 4 months training hard for the London Marathon. 2008 is the year they finally had to let me in after 6 years of rejections (you'd of thought I'd of given up trying!). So in 12days time I'll be lining up with thousands of others to complete the 26.2 miles. I didn't have the best start to my campaign, fracturing my foot last autumn, but the perseverance has paid off and I'm feeling confident of achieving my target time of 3hours 45mins.
The real reason for this message is to tell you about the great charity I'm running for, for those of you I've not already told in person. My younger sister, Ruth teaches at the school in the village where I grew up. Ruth was fortunate enough to have the pleasure of teaching Rob Holland, until September of last year when sadly Rob lost his brave fight with cancer. Robs aim in setting up this charity was to raise awareness of DSRCT the strain of cancer with which he was disgnosed. Rob wanted to set up a fund to raise money for research into this very aggressive disease as well as to help raise awareness of the cancer to help save other lives or at least give them a longer and better quality of life.
When I heard from Ruth about Robs courage and all the work the school had been doing I had to contribute and I hope you'll feel able to join me in supporting this great cause. I couldn't think of a better charity to run for, it truly has given me a real purpose on the cold dark winter morning runs.
If you feel able to contribute any amount we would be exceptionally grateful. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Robs ARTTT will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support.
