Registration will be at 3.15pm at the shelter on Arnside promenade

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am organising a Cross Bay Walk on Saturday 16th June at 3.30pm from Arnside Promenade to Kent's Bank station in Cumbria. Postcode LA5 OHA. This is a walk across the sands of Morecambe Bay led by the Queen's Guide to the Sands, Cedric Robinson. The walk takes 3 to 4 hours and dogs are welcome if kept under control. It is possible to get a short train journey between these locations. See http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/

All proceeds from the walk will go towards the Voyage of Recovery which is a sailing trip around Britain involving staff, service users and graduates of Phoenix Futures. Those involved will participate in the running of the ship learning new skills and gaining a recognised qualification.

If you would like to participate on the Cross Bay walk we are asking for £8 or above donation. With this donation, state 'ticket' on your comment and print off your email receipt. Donations from non-participants are also welcome. Please arrive for the walk in good time to avoid disappointment

Please ensure you have read guidance below before participating in this event

The walk itself is 7 to 8 miles long, depending on the route. The walk usually starts from the stony foreshore at Arnside, proceeds onto the sands and across the channels of the River Kent.

The height of the river is usually between knee and thigh deep. Old, comfortable shoes or trainers are recommended rather than expensive walking boots or wellies, and shorts or trousers that you can roll up. You may want to bring a towel.

There are dangerous quicksands in the bay. To ensure your safety, stay with your group and follow instructions from the Guide and his helpers at all times. Never attempt to cross the bay without a respected local guide.

The weather can be anything from driving rain to hot sun, so come prepared to protect yourself against the elements. It is very exposed out on the bay with no shelter, so bring sunscreen and a sunhat or waterproofs, depending on conditions. Don't forget to bring a bottle of water and a snack.

The last part of the walk involves crossing gullies on the saltmarsh. These can be quite wide and slippery, so walkers need to be agile enough to get across.
