Lesley's message

Hi guys, this Coffee morning means a lot to me, more than you'd know. On my 21st birthday my grandad died of prostate cancer. It was a long painful struggle for him and despite best efforts he was in constant pain. He was a shadow of his former self and everything in his body slowly and painfully shut down. I would visit him and he wouldn't know who I was, he would cry out in pain and there was nothing I could do to help. Luckily the Macmillan nurses were on hand to take some of the stress not only from me but from my grandmother and mother and not to mention soothe my grandfather. Even after he passed they still contacted us and offered counselling and support. I would have crumbled if it wasn't for the nurses and my birthdays will never be the same for the rest of my life. That's why it's only right you give something back. We have no family history of cancer. It just happened. He never drank or smoked. Was the picture of health. You never know if it'll be you or when you need them. Please dig deep guys. It's an amazing cause xxxxx Lesley Rose xxxx
