Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
Hi, Basically my name is Rees and sadly just a few months ago my grandfather got dignosed with cancer. My ambition is to now raise £1,000 to go towards Cancer Research to get us closer to the cure for this disease.
I have never experienced anything like this until my grandfather got diagnosed with it and I would like to do my ultimate best to raise money for this charity.
Sadly my grandad died from this very rare cancer and I am now going to accomplish the £1,000 to give to Cancer Research UK to help them get closer to this cure.
First Event - Sponsored Walk To Nottingham Town Centre And Back
(COMPLETE)
My first event will consist of a walk to Nottingham's Town Centre and back from my own house. This altogether would take 8 miles and I know it isn't much but it is the thought that counts. I would be really grateful if you could all sponsor me to reach my target within the next 12 months.
Many thanks for your support.

I would like to say I will proove that I have sent this money off to Cancer Research with a letter of evidence, confirming that I have sent this money to Cancer Research. I will let you know when I have done this.

Update - 18th Sept 2006 - I got sponsored £10.50 from my mum after the event that I did last thursday. This has now helped me to break the £100 mark and I have now recieved £108.50 in donations. I will send this money off in the next few week and proove it with a receipt to proove that I have sent the money off.
Update - 16th Sept 2006 - I didn't update yesterday as I didn't get chance but I can tell you that I have been donated by a further 3 people. My Nan sponsored me £10 after the event and Barry and Carol sponsored me £5 which takes my total donations to £98.00, I am nearly at the £100 mark and I should reach this shortly from my first event.
Main Update - 14th Sept 2006
Hi all,
This is my latest update from my sponsored charity event which I did this morning.
Event: Walk to Nottingham and back (Approx 8 Miles)
Start time: 6.55AM
End time: 8:44AM
Completion time: 1Hr 49Min
I am surprised at how quickly I completed the event. I thought it would take me two hours just to go one way, but I was very determined and with the amount of walking about I do around Wilkinson I felt that I had adequate amount of fitness to participate in this walk.
I set of from my house at 6.55AM and decided upon taking the route of the Colwick Loop Road followed by the walk over Lady Bay Retail Park and then cut down past Heart Fm Radio station towards London Road and then finally over to the Nottingham Ice Stadium where I then finished 50% of my route. The roads was quite busy but this didn’t stop or delay me in any way, as I tended to walk at a relative speed and also traffic lights decided mainly to go red just as I was coming up to them which was quite handy!
I can’t remember what time exactly I reached the Ice Stadium but I stood around for about a minute before taking my departure route. I was pending on whether to go over Carlton Hill back to my house or the way I came which was the Colwick Loop Road route. I decided to come back the way I started and the journey went with relative ease, I didn’t encounter any problems…. Although on the way back I could feel my hamstring starting to tighten up.
I reached my house at 8.44AM where I put my hand up to Dan (who lives opposite) and shook my hand in the air to confirm that I had completed my event.
Thursday 14th September 2006 - £83.00 Collected
Within the next few days/weeks my next target is to reach about £100 to confirm that I am 1/10th of the way to completing my total for Cancer Research.
Update:
13th September 2006 - I didn't update yesterday as I didn't have chance and I was too tired but I got another donation through the door from my next door neighbours Brad and Dawn, they have donated/sponsored me £5 which takes my total up a bit more and also one of my friends Andrew has finally sponsored me today of £10. So far I've now managed to raise £83 to go towards Cancer Research.
Tomorow is the big day, or morning shall I say when I will be doing my event. So I am hopeful to get a few more donations before the end of tomorow morning.. My aim is £100 + from this event, and I've been sponsored by a few more people who are going to be paying after the event has finished.
11th September 2006 - Today is 9/11 and I was watching and reading some of the information about that terrible day in America. RIP to all those who lost their lives.
Anyway regarding my Sponsoring I had another Sponsor today of £10 thanks to Dan and Donna (Who live across the road from me ) they have helped me boost my fundraising to £68.00.

10th September 2006 - I sent a few more letters on my street regarding my sponsored walk that I will be doing in just a few days time. Thanks to Gina and Roy, who live on my street have sponsored me £10, which I really do apperciate. This takes my total up to £58. My target from this event is to raise above £100 so hopefully I will get there.
Thanks, Rees

8th September 2006 - Sorry for the lack of updates recently, I haven't had that much luck with donations but a big thank you to all those who have donated to sponsor me for my walk which will be happening towards the end of this month.
I have had no recent/new people sponsor me off the internet lately, however I am going to be sponsored by a few more people locally which is good news so please keep them coming in. With a total of 12 people sponsoring and so far 7 have kept their word which is great news.
£13 has so far been raised offline which takes the total up to £46.00, it is going to be a slow process but one that I will take a lot of pride and commitment from.
Thanks for viewing and keep up the sponsoring!!
