Hi everyone
I was planning my trip to New York or Hong Kong for this summer and I was feeling in need of doing something different this year. I got my magic ball out and ended up thinking about HIKE4LIFE!
Hike4Life kezako?
Hiking, yes, but not for nothing: also helping out local communities by supporting FOCUS Humanitarian Assistance.
FOCUS is an international agency providing emergency response following natural or man-made disasters. Based in Europe, North America, and Central Asia. FOCUS has recently provided relief and assistance after Hurricane Rita and Katrina or after the Ocean Indian Tsunami.
FOCUS also aims to deliver mitigation programs to help vulnerable communities to prepare and respond to any hazards.
Besides standard fundraising campaigns, FOCUS has organized a series of different challenges, involving hiking or cycling throughout the world.
This year, the chosen country is KYRGYZSTAN.
This might sound you familiar, somewhere you can’t really locate or maybe nothing at all but this country does exist!
The challenge is then a 10-day trek through alpine pastures, mountain paths, rivers, gorges and the Issyk-Kul Lake, the second largest mountain lake in the world.
Why “Hike4Life” challenge?
A friend told me once “doing something you believe in makes a huge difference”.
Indeed, this challenge gives me the opportunity to
1. Communicate and develop people awareness on FOCUS humanitarian activities
2. Support FOCUS through my commitment to raise a grand total of £4,000
3. Overcome a long and highly demanding trek to honor my donors
For all these reasons, I need your support!!!
