      As I'm on my way into the trade i thought this would be a good starting place for raising money for this charity. The work they do means a lot to people of the trade especially the families of those who are injured on duty. This jump will be the scariest thing i have ever done and I imagine i will need pushing out of the plane! The event is a sponsored skydive for the Felix Fund Bomb Disposal Charity on the 21st of April in support of Captain Lisa Jade Head's family after she was killed in Afghanistan disarming IEDs in April 2011, if you would like to read more about the Felix Fund and this event please follow the link below.

      A few of us have decided that we need to raise some money for the charity that supports those that have been injured, or the families of those killed doing the job we are in training for. Seeing as the majority of us have never skydived before, it's a challenge we are all very nervous about.
      Because the job isn't easy, being injured indefinitely isn’t easy, and for the families of those killed, coping isn't easy, the challenge set for us won't be easy. To be honest, jumping out of a plane at, as far as I’m concerned, a million feet does not seem very fun.
      Personally, the more money I can raise from my friends and family, the more at ease I will be. The more money raised, the more worthwhile it will be.
      The charity is a great charity; it isn't a very big one but needs all the support it can get. For those that do not know what the charity does, read below or click on the link on my page.
      Felix Fund exists to support any military personnel who have conducted or assisted with Explosive Ordnance Disposal duties, and their families.
      This includes ammunition technical officers, ammunition technicians, ECM operators, drivers, infantry escorts, weapons intelligence specialists, dog handlers, searchers or any other military personnel involved in EOD duties.
      Our current focus is funding therapeutic normalisation breaks to help bomb disposal teams readjust to life in the UK after serving in Afghanistan.
      We are also raising money for welfare and rehabilitation facilities, and building a hardship fund for all. This fund will of course support the trade’s many injured and bereaved, but also members of the wider ‘bomb disposal family’ who have otherwise fallen on hard times.

      Felix Fund - The Bomb Disposal Charity

      Felix Fund supports bomb disposal experts and their families. We fund therapeutic breaks for bomb disposal teams returning from Afghanistan and other welfare and rehabilitation facilities for EOD units. We also provide hardship grants for individual members of ‘the bomb disposal family’ in need.
