Hi all, Thank you for visiting this fundraising page. Massive thanks also to those of you who have already donated - I'm overwhelmed.
As most of you know, I occasionally decide to enter the odd half-marathon or even full marathon every now and again. I have always tried to raise money for charity in doing these events and would like to continue doing so. The big change this time round is the benefactor - I have decided that all money raised by me in future will go to St. Luke's Hospice in Winsford, Cheshire. St. Luke's is where Andy spent his final days and is a marvellous place, committed to providing compassionate care for people suffering from a life-threatening illness in a calm, loving and homely environment. 61% of the money to keep St Luke's running has to be raised from the public in one form or another. Of the remaining money needed, 32% comes from the Primary Care Trust and Cancer Network, and 7% from Investment Income.
The costs for running St. Lukes in 2006 were over £1.9 million, which means that over £1.1 million needed to be raised by the public (or over £3,000 per day!). Costs are increasing on a yearly basis. http://www.stlukes-hospice.co.uk/ Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to donate: St Luke's (Cheshire) Hospice will receive your money electronically and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in Gift Aid will be added to your donation at no cost to you.
Please donate generously.
Many thanks for your support.
