Operation 25K - Remembering Barry Over the weekend of 21-22 July a team of 28 people will be aiming to complete the 3 Peaks Challenge in memory of Barry Evans who died last year. The team, including members of Newbury Baptist Church along with friends & family, plan to raise £25,000 for the Newbury & District Cancer Care Trust and Charles Clore Unit. The money will be used to buy new equipment that will have a lasting impact, benefiting current and future patients as well as raising awareness of the work carried out by the charities. Three Peaks Challenge The challenge involves climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike & Snowdon (the three highest mountains in Scotland, England & Wales) within 24 hours. Understandably a lot of planning and preparation is required for such a large group of walkers, but the hope is that through sponsorship and the generous donations of friends, family and the community, the target will be reached, and people’s lives will be changed. In Memory of Barry Evans The reason why so many people have got involved with this project is due to the memory of Barry Evans, who lost his fight against bowel cancer last year at the age of 31. Barry was an inspiration to many people, constantly challenging those around him, asking open, honest, heartfelt questions and encouraging everyone to keep on searching for answers. The memory of Barry will live on in the hearts of those people whose lives he touched and this project is for him and the people suffering with cancer today in Newbury and the surrounding area. The walkers are: Alex Tame, Andy Gallaugher, Anna Tidy, Claire Lewis, Claire Warburton, Dan Ward, Dave Bright, Dave Fortey, David Johnson, James Wadham, Jamie Gough, Jason Johnson, Jon Stannard, Kate Ward, Keith Dent, Matt Johnson, Mike Eaton, Nick Freeman, Nikki Wilby, Owen Joyce, Richard Slater, Sarah Dent, Shelley Johnson, Stephen Gowdy, Steve Vardy, Tim Bird, Tom Chicken, Tony Johnson. The support crew are: Chris Scott, Colin McDermott, Neil Franklin, Paul Ashworth, Paul Davey Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to donate. The Newbury & District Cancer Care trust will receive your money electronically and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in Gift Aid will be added to your donation at no cost to you. Please donate generously. Many thanks for your support The Operation25k team!
