My story

Remembering Carole

A mother, wife, daughter, sister & friend, who sadly lost her battle for life as a result of kidney failure on 12 August 2009, leaving behind her loving husband Colin and their 7 year old Son, Reece.

This page is to help raise money for the Critical Care Unit, as we will always be indebted to them for their support, guidance and devotion to duty given to this precious lady and to her family and friends throughout her 11 week stay in the Critial Care suite.

Carole's death touch so many lives that approximately 250 people attended her funeral, where donations were given on behalf of the Critical Care Unit, as we only wanted flowers from the immediate family.  We would like to take this opportunity to thank those who gave so generously, as £1,600 was raised on that day.

The money was given to the Critical Care Unit and is just enough to purchase a syringe driver, of which Carole needed 4 of them in use at the same time, at various times throughout this period.  Carole also needed a ventilator, a dialysis machine, a constant flow of warm air to keep her body temperature up, as well as the usual monitors to show her blood pressure, oxygen levels, respiration levels etc. The medical equipment used during her stay in the Critial Care suite was valued at just over £1,000,000.

This is why we feel this charity is so important, they may not have been able to save our Carole's life, but kept her pain free and provided her with a dignified death.  With your help we will be able to help them help others like Carole and like the thousands of people who are successfully treated by this wonderful team year in year out.
