Story

Hi, I'm Scott and thanks for visiting the page...

Now don't worry!!! I'm not going to try and make you feel so guilty into sponsoring me hundreds of pounds... I'm not a children in need spin off, or a fundraising con artist for that matter.

But... 8 years ago my grandad 'Ray Nangreave' was diagnosed with cancer and was told he had 6 months to live, he defied the odds and fought for many years until 14th Novemeber 2011, where my family and I sat around his 'Good Hope' hospital bed and waited until we watched him take his final breaths.

Undoubtably the saddest moment of my life, he was more than just my grandad, he was my friend who I used to share opinions with usually about sport, which is something we both loved.

He was born on 25th December and as a surprise for his 71st birthday I had convinced some of the world's most famous sports stars to record him happy birthday messages along with many other famous television personalities such as Ant n Dec, Peter Andre, Noel Edmonds and many, many more. Sadly he didn't make it to see DVD but as a surprise to the family I went ahead and shown them on Christmas day, which went down well and helped lift the spirits.

I can't post the video online as I don't have permission to use it for broadcast but I would be more than happy to show you if you wish to contact me on: Scott.Campbell@itv.com

Now for the real reason why you're reading this...

Cancer charities are always popular and I may be criticised for not trying to raise money for one of these as this is what fundamentally took my grandad's life. However my family are big animal lovers and I feel that these charities often find it difficult to raise funds. For those of you who knew my grandad, will know that he loved his dog Duke and I feel that the 'Birmingham Dog Home' would be a cause that he would be proud to have been a part of.

Therefore during 2012 I will be partaking in many charity events such as the Birmingham Half Marathon, The Great Midlands Fun Run, The London Marathon and many more.

I'm hoping you can spare just a small donation for my efforts, and if this hasn't encouraged you enough then take a look a my dog Ted in the photo's section just below... Please give what you can! Thanks Scott x
