My story

One year on.....

its hard to believe a year has passed since Zoe lost her fight.  I have seen how much loved she was by friends and family and for those of us whose lives she touched even briefly she has left a lasting legacy.

You really are an inspirational teenager, Zoe.

Thanks to Zoe and to all those who have fundraised in her name we will have our first specialist unit in Edinburgh very soon

I met Zoe in August 2006 when we were filming a DVD for Teenage Cancer Trust.  The first thing that struck me about her was her positive attitude - she had been fighting cancer for some time by then and had lost her hair when she underwent chemotherapy but she was a shining example of how not to let it get you down.

In April 2007 she was a star model at a fashion show we organised to raise funds for Teenage Cancer Trust - it didn't matter what she was asked to wear, she looked fantastic in every outfit and certainly wowed our audience.  She showed them how amazing she looked in her variety of wigs too.

Zoe was an inspirational supporter of the work of Teenage Cancer Trust and was working with me on two more fashion events to raise funds.  Sadly, she lost her fight with cancer on Wednesday 12 September. 2007.

Zoe wanted to see better facilities in Edinburgh for teenagers fighting cancer.

With your help we can achieve that - and sooner rather than later.

Thanks to your help and others like you we have raised enough money to finance the temporary Unit at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh.  Work will commence later this year and the unit should be ready for use in early January 2009.

Our next goal is to raise £1m towards the creation of a unit at the Western General Hospital for older teenagers and young adults.  We need to raise this money by end 2009!

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to donate: Teenage Cancer Trust will receive your money electronically and, if you are a taxpayer, an extra 28% in Gift Aid will be added to your donation at no cost to you.

Many thanks for your support.
