Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We did it!  All 3 Peaks in 23 hours and 40 minutes for the final person to cross the line.  It was an unforgettable experience and one which tested us to the max.

But the team worked really well together and the amount we’ve raised has made all the blisters worthwhile.  We completed Ben Nevis in 4h43m, Scafell Pike in 4h02m and Snowdon in 3h57m (for the last person).  Some of the team ran the last mile or so of Snowdon to get under 3h30 which was truly incredible.

We had to coped with road closures (which saw our deadline extended by 50 minutes), traffic jams, Snowdon at its busiest, Scafell Pike at its darkest and everything in between.

We’d like to thank everyone for taking the time to sponsor us…the level of support we had really meant a lot.  Thank you.

The challenge consists of climbing the three biggest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales, they are: Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in England and Snowdon in Wales all within 24 hours.  Thats a total of 10,000 feet to climb, 27 miles to walk and 450-500 miles of driving in 24 hours.

Why Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research?  In 2010, one of the team members (Neil) was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia and since then undergoes daily medication to manage (not cure) the disease.  The ongoing aim of the charity is to find a cure for all types of blood cancer (including Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia) so that patients can go on to live a normal life.  Only 15 years ago, patients would have died within three years of a CML diagnosis so the advances already made have transformed lives, but there is still much research to be done to find a cure for blood cancers.  Without the medication, Neil would die this year.

The team members jumped at the chance to take on this famous challenge and training walks have been done on Cheviot Scafell Pike and in the Yorkshire Dales on Buckden Pike and Great Wherniside.

The team members are:
Neil Douglass, Kerry Stevens, Mark Collins, Dawn Harris, Matthew Bates, Harry Dunn, Anthony Townshend and our own chauffeur Chris Kennedy.

It is important to note that 100% of your donation goes to the charity, none of it will be used to fund the challenge.  So please, give generously and keep your fingers crossed that the clock doesn't win!

Thanks for your support and keep checking back for updates!
