Concern Worldwide is an international humanitarian organisation that strives for a world free from poverty, fear and oppression. We deliver life-saving and life-changing interventions to some of the world's poorest and most vulnerable people to make sure that no-one is left behind.

Story

At the ripe old (young!) age of 57 I am running my first (and probably my last) marathon. I'm raising funds for Concern Worldwide as I used to work for the organisation from 2005 to 2009 and I know all about the great work it does in the poorest countries in the world. During my time at Concern I was fortunate enough to visit projects in Uganda in 2005 and in Sierra Leone in 2007. See my report on my trip to Sierra Leone here on the Concern website. I was moved by what I saw but I was impressed by the difference Concern makes under difficult circumstances.

I am aiming to raise £2000 - money that I know will be put to use by Concern for anti-poverty projects in some of the world's poorest countries. So please sponsor me. I know that we are living under difficult financial circumstances but millions of people in developing countries face food shortages, non-existant health care, and little or no schooling. Let's change this.

I've started a blog on tumblr - take a look and see how my training is going.

Thank you for your support - I really appreciate it!
