Great North Run 2009 · 20 September 2009 ·

The Mental Health Foundation believe no-one living in the UK should be deprived of the opportunity for good mental health because of who they are, the community they come from or where they live. We’re developing better ways to support good mental health in every community.

Story

Hello you lot,

Thanks for visiting my page.

I am attempting to run the Great North Run on 20th September 2009!!! Best cut out the drink and fags and get running one thinks!

I am running the GNR for a personal sense of achievement and what better way than to raise money along the way for The Mental Health Foundation.

1 in 4 people will suffer with some form of mental illness in their lives. Mental health is not all about delusional people being locked up in asylums. Depression is a mental illness also. You or someone you know will suffer from clinical depression at some point in their lvies, and will need the support of charities such as the MHF.

Mental illness not only affects the individuals life, their family and friends are also affected. A lot of support is required and the job the MHF do is truly remarkable.

The MHF put money into researching mental illnesses, this is key if we are to understand the illness and best treat it. The MHF also puts money into caring for the patients and their recuperation while they suffer with a mental illness. This can be a lengthy and very challenging time for all involved and the support recieved from mental health workers is again phenomenal.

Mental health is shockingly over looked and under funded in the UK. Mental illness has a massive impact on the individual and their family and friends. The MHF aswell as working with and supporting mentally ill adult patients also carrys out a great deal of work with young children with learning disabilities. Learning disabilities is again an area greatly overlooked and underfunded.

So please dig deep and sponsor me... It's going to a fantastic cause. Mental health really needs to be addressed and it's finally getting the publicity it deserves. Hopefulyl more so with the added help of you.

Thanks for reading and hopefully DONATING!!!

Wish me luck, I'll keep you updated...

Cheers

Rodders
