Hearts and Heroes Challenge · 16 May 2009 ·

The Sportsman's Charity, which has distributed nearly £2.5m since 1983, raises money through events for projects involving disabled sport, youth and social inclusion. Its distributions are made to other, smaller charitable organisations working in these fields.

Story

Ladies and Gents,

Thanks for taking the first step and looking at my page.

I did this 29 mile hike in 9 hours 27 mins on Saturday 16th May in the Scottish Borders. It was a challenge and I got a few blisters but it was worth it.

The charities we walked for are important to me: Poppy Scotland, Hearts and Balls and the Sportsman's charity. All of them raise money each year for people that have been either crippled by war or by rugby.

The Sportsman’s Charity in case you don’t know generates funds for The Murrayfield Centenary Fund for disabled rugby players while Hearts and Balls has the aim of “keeping rugby help its own” including seriously injured players.

I know these days every other person is doing something for charity. All I'm asking from you is £2 (obviously more would be amazing).

2 quid costs less than a pint or a sandwich from the deli. If I can get enough people to donate £2 then I might get close to my team's target.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Sportsman's Charity Limited gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!

Ric

(If you can't spare 2 bucks, I won't hold it against you of course but I know they would appreciate it.)
