Story
I am fundraising for the Vodafone Foundation to help educate and empower
girls. Your donation to the Vodafone Foundation Girl Fund will support
programmes that benefit young and adolescent girls; providing opportunities
education for vulnerable girls in communities where Vodafone operates and
providing access to informal learning to help girls recognise their potential,
understand their rights and become active change makers for gender equality.
Vodafone has a history of striving for gender
equality, but there is still so much to do. That’s why on International Day of the Girl 2018,
we're committing (with Girl Effect) to connect 7 million girls in Africa and
India to information that can help them break the cycle of poverty.
But what about all the other issues facing
girls around the world?
130 million girls remain out of school1 in 3 girls will experience abuse in her lifetime71% of human trafficking victims are female25% of 14 year old girls in the UK have self harmed
#ShineALight
for girls is raising funds to address some of the most challenging issues
affecting girls in the UK and Europe today, and every penny you raise goes
straight to Vodafone Foundation’s Girl Fund. This restricted fund is dedicated
to supporting charitable programmes that use technology to improve the lives of
vulnerable girls in Vodafone’s markets. Funds will be allocated at the discretion
of the Vodafone Foundation’s Board of Trustees.
Supporting
displaced girls through Help Refugees
We’re
continuing our partnership with Help Refugees, Europe’s largest grassroots
distributor of aid, following the hugely successful #ChooseLove campaign (which
in 2017 helped raise over £1 million for Help Refugees). Adolescent girls in
displacement are at significant risk of sexual abuse, gender based violence,
forced marriage, and early pregnancy. There are 65 million people currently
displaced from their homes due to conflict or natural disaster – half of them
children – and with your fundraising, we can help keep them safe. Find out more

Supporting
girls affected by period poverty through The Red Box
Project
We’re
addressing period poverty because across the UK, a staggering one in ten girls
have been unable to afford menstrual products, and 49% have missed school
because of their period. Financial barriers to products and taboos around
menstruation are hampering girls' education and future opportunities. The Girl
Fund will support The Red Box Project, a nationwide community providing free
menstrual products for schools and community clubs. Learn more at www.redboxproject.org
