When I agreed to take on this challenge in tandem (not literally!!) with my twin brother I hadn't quite appreciated the enormity of the task, not least that it would be taking place in February when the conditions could be quite uncompromising. This has been evidenced oh so incredibly over the last month or so with such conditions severely affecting our preparation as you can imagine!!!

In anycase, it will all be so worthwhile given that the charities we are riding for mean so much to me. In partnership with the Sport Relief campaign the cycle ride will aim to raise in excess of £1m for Sport Relief and The Dallaglio Foundation, which in turn will support Cancer Research UK, DebRA, the Help for Heroes campaign, the PRA Benevolent Fund and Leaukemia Research. 

We have all been touched in some way by cancer. Our mother died of this dreadful disease 5 years ago, far too early in her life, so Davids and my journey will be pushed on by the thoughts of her and the hope that monies raised will bring new treatments to those who so desperately need them. 

I can only mirror Lawrence's motivation in taking on this challenge - to honour my mother and relieve future suffering.
