Story
For centuries, man has been fascinated with conquering the world's great mountains and taming the wild challenges that Mother Nature has set:
Mount Everest...
Mount Kilimanjano...
The North Face of the Eiger...
Tough challenges to take on, yes.
BUT, none of them are in Yorkshire are they?
On Saturday 27th July we’ll be doing The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for The Campbell Burns Metabolic Trust - a great charity set up by my friend Bekki and her husband Mark to make life a little easier for parents of young children with metabolic disorders.
The walk consists of a 24.5 mile circular route in the Ribble Valley of the Yorkshire Dales. It starts and ends in the village of Horton-in-Ribblesdale and takes in climbs of the three highest points in all of God’s Own County (and, therefore, the world. Probably...):
Pen-y-Ghent (691m),
Whernside (728m),
and Ingleborough (723m).
The standard rules of the “Challenge” state that the course should be completed in under 12 hours. However, the presence of lovely pub serving finest Yorkshire brew and conveniently located about half way round may well result in a more leisurely pace on the day.
