UPDATE: Monday 15th March

Happy days! Tim and I successfully scaled the dizzy heights of Kilimanjaro and at the summit at 7.30am, 5,895m above sea level, it was a crisp -20 degrees. There are updated photos to prove we did it and I can assure you those tired bodies are ours, standing alongside our amazing guides Daniel and Gilbert.

Thank you very much indeed for your sponsorship and this page will remain open so if you know someone who said "I'll sponsor them when I get five minutes" and didn't, feel free to harass them until they crack.

Thanks again for your support, we really do appreciate it.

UPDATE: Sunday 21st February

Firstly, big thanks to everyone that came to our quiz last Thursday. We had a 100 people there and hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did. Nothing like a bit of trivia to get the grey matter working!

Our training weekend on the 13/14th Feb was a real success as we dragged the girls up hill and down dale over the South Downs and Seven Sisters cliffs just outside Eastbourne. (Who needs Valentine's Day anyway, as we frequently reminded them!?) We were all of 200m above sea level so it wasn't a high altitude experience.

So, we fly out this coming Saturday ready to start climbing by Tuesday - it's 80 degrees farenheit at sea level in Tanzania at the moment and well into the minuses nearer the top of Kili. It gets pretty chilly at 19,000ft!

The climb will take 8 days and we are sharing a tent all the way up and all the way back down. (This may well prove harder than the ascent.)

If you haven't donated yet, we would really appreciate your support - its takes two minutes feels great!

We will get some photos online when we get back and let you know all about it!

And now here is some other stuff you should read.....

We are funding the entire trip ourselves, meaning any donations made by friends, family, colleagues and anyone else we can cajole into giving us money will go straight to our chosen charity which is Save the Children.

Save the Children do amazing work all over the world and this includes Tanzania. Tourists like us arrive in Tanzania in their thousands to attempt Kilimanjaro and safari on the Serengeti but it is also one of the world's poorest countries and we would like to give something back. Please help us to do this! You can read more about the brilliant work Save the Children do there at this link: http://www.savethechildren.org.uk/en/941.htm

We would be delighted if you would like to sponsor us! No amount is too small and in return we promise to let you know about our training, do our best to complete the climb, send you photos, make a video and generally keep you up to date with the whole thing.

Here's an idea of what your donation can do.....

 - £4 will pay for a life saving mosquito net, helping to stop the spread of deadly malaria.

 - £10 will provide a child with shoes, allowing them access to education where footwear is compulsory for attending school and keeping little feet safe.

 - £20 will buy an Emergency Food Basket, providing food for a family for a month, a vital lifeline for families suffering from chronic illness or facing an emergency in their community such as a drought.

 - £53 buys all basic equipment for a whole school including pens, paper and books and is the perfect start to any new school year.

Last but not least, here's the official bit from JustGiving..
