The Lakeland 100 · 21 June 2008

Motor Neurone Disease moves fast. It takes away time, it takes away independence and it has no cure. Every day we support people affected by MND. We fund ground-breaking research. We campaign for better care. We’re here for everyone who needs us. Because with MND, every day matters.

Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

I am aiming to raise £1,000 for the MNDA by running the Lakeland 100 on the 8-10th August 2008.

Motor Neurone Disease is a fatal disease of the nervous system.  It attacks the nerve cells that send messages from the brain to the muscles.  As these motor neurones gradually die, the muscles stop working.

Every day more damage is done and the body slowly deteriorates.  The mind and senses are rarely affected.  People with MND know exactly what is happening to their bodies.  They also know there is nothing they can do to stop it.

Although running 100 miles will be painful (I have never ran more than 26 miles before) it will be more than worth it if I hit my target of £1,000.  Please give generously to this worthy cause.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: the Motor Neurone Disease Association gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

Thank you,

Richard.
