<p>Matty was in my daughters year at Eastern Green Junior School where I am a School Governor. He was only 11 when he died of cancer.</p>
<p>His courage and bravery inspired those that knew him and when he lost his 6 month battle with cancer in July 2011 his passing was felt by all.</p>
<p>After reading an article about Matty in the Coventry Evening Telegraph he said; “The children’s oncology ward at Birmingham Children’s Hospital had so many fewer resources than its neighbouring unit funded by Teenage Cancer Trust, and how unfair this was.” See the <a title="Matty Coombes" href="http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/news/coventry-news/2011/08/17/brave-coventry-schoolboy-loses-battle-with-cancer-92746-29250737/">article here<br></a><br>With this in mind I would like to do something about this in Matty’s name. <br><br>On 25 September 2011 I have entered to compete in the <a title="Buxton Triathlon" href="http://www.xtramileevents.com/events/calendar/buxton-triathlon">Buxton Triathlon</a> and will raise money for Ward 15 of the Birmingham Children’s Hospital where Matty had his treatment.</p>
