My story

On 26th April I will endeavor to run the The London Marathon for Auditory Verbal UK.

AVUK is a national charity that transforms Children’s lives, helping severely and profoundly deaf children learn to listen and speak. Modern technology (hearing aids and cochlear implants) enable access to sound.  However, the mind needs to learn how to make sense of this sound.  Young children often do not get the support they need to develop age-appropriate listening and spoken language.

AVUK helps 55 children at any given time, closing the language gap with their hearing peers, so that they can enter mainstream schools and have an equal start in life.

Not only do I want to raise money to support this excellent cause, I want to raise the profile to let people know what is possible.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and secure.  If you’re a taxpayer, Justgiving will reclaim 25% in Gift Aid, taking a 3% supplement.  If you prefer, you can sponsor me directly in the old-fashioned way.  If you provide your address then I all the gift aid can be reclaimed.
