Story
Hi Everyone,
In 2004 I was diagnosed with Colitis. It's an awful disease in which it's cure and cause are unknown.
From personal experience I know that it involves a lot of resilliance, patience, energy and medication to overcome bouts of illness. Fortunately for me, I tend to live a normal life being troubled by illness only ocassionally.
There are however, many people affected by similar diseases such as Crohn's and Ulcerative Colitis who aren't as lucky and everyday is a struggle for them to cope. Especially children, (and relatives of them) who find it hardset to have to deal with these dreadful diseases as part of their everyday lives.
To help support these children, I'll be running the High Wycombe Half Marathon on July 18th (Gasp!). Which hopefully I'll complete without passing out :) and raise lots of money for the charity CIRCA; which I'm supporting.
Who are CIRCA?
CIRCA, (Crohn's in Childhood Research Association) are dedicated to creating a wider understanding of Crohn's disease and Ulcerative Colitis, particularly as it affects children and young adults.
They provide support for sufferers and their families and raise funds to support approved medical research aimed at finding more effective treatments and an eventual cure.
Any donations will be much appreciated, so please help me reach my target for sponsorship!
Richard
