Cornwall Hospice Care
Cornwall Hospice Care provides care and support throughout Cornwall, for people living with life-threatening illnesses, their families and carers, not only in our two hospices - St Julia’s in Hayle and Mt Edgcumbe in St Austell - but also in outreach centres across the county. Last year, nearly 500 people benefited from over 7,400 bed days, receiving treatment to alleviate pain and control symptoms. The care given to patients and their families is provided free of charge, but costs us over £5 million annually (£10 a minute). Only 13% of this is funded by the government which means that we rely heavily on the generous support of the general public, donations, challenges and fundraising events. All the money we raise stays in Cornwall.

Many thanks for your support. thanks for visiting the page, this year i'll be running the london marathon to raise money to help cornish hospices and the wonderful work that they do here. if it helps when you're thinking of sponsoring also consider the fringe benefits: those london friends it'll mean me coming up to london; those i work with it'll mean me eating fewer sandwiches in the practice meeting; those i'm married to think how much thinner i'm going to be; and those who don't even like me that much think how much its going to hurt! training started last week: it seems that reading the 'how to be a marathon runner' book and prancing around in my running tights in the kitchen is not going to be enough. so i've been out in the rain on bodmin moor getting some miles under my belt (a bit larger than normal cos of christmas!) thanks for your help
well its the middle of march now and i've done a couple of 19-milers and 20 miles of moorland misery to go this weekend, i have lost a couple of nails and gained a lot of blisters, but i'm hanging in there.
