Story
WELCOME! Thank you for visiting. This justgiving page is coming to a close on the 16th. I want to say a big Thank You to everyone who has helped out with raising the funds or took part in the festival last year you have all been amazing! Anyone who would still like to make a contribution can still do so on here until Monday evening (15th)
Back in April of this year I had the plan of self-funding a climb to Kilimanjaro to raise funds for St Luke's Hospice. I started training and put my heart into getting the fitness required to make this possible. All started so well and we created the Plymouth African Festival, a vibrant and special day on the 20th June, to celebrate the start of early summer, the climb to Kilimanjaro and raise awareness and funds for St Luke's Hospice.
So many people gave themselves to this event; The musicians, artists, contributors and support infrastructure, and I cannot thank them enough for making it the unique and special day that it was.
We all got together and had fun whilest gathering funds for the hospice. This was such a great start to the fund raising and then the plan was for me to climb the mountain on the 16th September.
Unfortunatly this could not happen, many of you know the climb had to be cancelled. On the 25th July, whilest training in the mountains of Czech, I had an accident and broke my ankle.
Did not bargain for that but have had to accept this may be possible another time and myself and many others who have been part of this have had an incredible journey along the way.
Thank You and see you again,
Richard
