Kilimanjaro for Endometriosis · 2 February 2004

Over 1.5 million in the UK have endometriosis and the impact of the disease is for some devastating, yet diagnosis takes on average 8 years. With your donations we are turning this around, raising awareness, providing support and information, supporting research, and campaigning for change.

Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me in support of the National Endometriosis Society.

To celebrate my 55th birthday, and raise money for this worthy cause, I will be joining a party from the Society that will climb Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest mountain, at the beginning of March. This involves a round trip of 80 kilometres on foot, climbing to an altitude of almost 6,000 metres (19,340 feet).

Endometriosis is a chronic and debilitating disease that affects nearly 1 in 10 women. Its cause is unknown and at present there is no cure. On average, it takes 7 years to diagnose. Almost 2 million women in the UK are affected, and there is a real need to improve current levels of knowledge, awareness and support.

This is the most efficient way for me to raise money, and every single penny really helps. So please give as much as you can to encourage my effort!

If you are a UK taxpayer your donation will be increased by almost a third at no cost to you.

Many thanks for your support.
