Story
I was one of few runners from the United Kingdom to take part in the South African Comrades 56-mile non stop road race on May 24. Billed as the world's toughest road race, it lived up to its name and the race from Pietermaritzburg to Durban was a supreme challenge.
I found the race incredibly tough. It took place on very steep hills in the African heat and more than 800 runners out of the 11,300 starters found it so hard that they had to withdraw during the race. I finished the race with a bronze medal in a time of 10hrs 40mins.
I am raising money for the Help for Heroes charity. I live in Ufford, nr Woodbridge, Suffolk, and I am delighted with the support shown by Colin and Shirley Aldous, pictured here, who own Ufford Park Hotel which has made a substantial donation for my training costs. Further details about the hotel, golf club and spa are available through this link:

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Help for Heroes gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
MANY THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT, Richard.
