St Mary’s Hospice provides specialised supportive and palliative care for people with life-shortening conditions throughout South Cumbria. Less than 20% of our funding comes from the NHS, the rest comes from our supporters. All our services are provided free to patients and their families.

Story

Thank you to each and every one of you who has gallantly visited this fundraising page.

I have been overwhelmed by the magnitude of your support, as well as the extent of your generosity.

I am pleased to report - as well as somewhat relieved - that I completed the course in 4 hours, 39 mins and 5 seconds. Happily, this was well ahead of what I'd anticipated (actually, even dreamt of!).

Due to the hilly terrain the winning time was 2 hours, 44 mins, with only the first 13 runners breaking the 3 hour mark.

I will be doing the final "totting up" over the next few days, but this web page actually stays open for donations for a few more weeks yet.

I am absolutely delighted to report that funds raised to date for the HOSPICE OF ST MARY OF FURNESS (in south Cumbria) now exceed £3,800.

As a closing comment, I have to concede that my Mother would, most likely, have been horrifed that not only a) I was running a marathon, but b) doing it in her name! What she undoubtedly would be both thrilled with and very proud of, is the extent of the funds raised for such a hugely worthy cause.

A huge thank you to you all individually. I really can't express my gratitude enough for both your level of support and generosity. It is so appreciated.
