Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
For those of you who don't know.....
.... I'm a dedicated mountain biker of + 10 years and this summer I've decided to ignore the natural instincts which keep most MTBers away from leg shaving and skinny tyres. I've entered the 2008 L'etape du Tour which is a road cycling event on Stage 10 of this years Tour de France.
I thought I knew what I was getting myself into, but after spending some time on the road in preparation, the true horror is dawning. I've never ridden in packs of road riders before, I've never ridden 100 miles in a day and I've never climbed a 1500 meter mountain - this event has about 2000 participants covers 105 miles start to finish and has two mountains to climb!
After L'etape I'm going to Alpe d'huez to take part in the Mega Avalanche - a mass start Downhill Mountain Bike race which starts in the snow at the top of the mountain and finishes at the valley floor 1 hour later (its quite a big hill). Although I'll be back with my mountain bike brethren, it'll be another first for me.
The first week in july is going to be a real challenge for me. I thought this would be a great opportunity to raise some money for Macmillan Cancer Support and honour the memory of my grandpa Jack Wood.
Below are a couple of links so that you can check out the events and see if I deserve sponsorship. If you just want to watch me fall off my bike and break every bone in my body (I'm taking a video camera) thats fine as long as you sponsor me:)

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Macmillan Cancer Support will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
If we hit the target I'll shave my legs.
Many thanks for your support.
