Well I did it - 3hrs 39 mins 39 secs!!!
I would just like to say a BIG thank you for everybody who sponsored me. I beat my target of £3,000 thanks to your generous donations.
Your money will enable "Get Kids Going" to help many disabled children to enjoy many different sports.
many thanks
Richard
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
I have been persuaded, perhaps at a weak moment, i.e. down the pub after a few jars, to “compete”, or should I say “stagger”, in this year’s Flora London Marathon being held on 26 April 2009.
In order to make all the pain and effort worthwhile I am “running” on behalf of the UK Children’s charity called “Get Kids Going!” and you really appreciate your support.
In an attempt to get fit for the London Marathon I have been dragging my aging body through a sort of training schedule, comprising of two runs every weekend – usually one long one and one short one. This is supplemented by two nights a week on a treadmill in the Fitness First Gym in Duesseldorf. Not sure many "highly toned" athletes have a two country training regime!!
In addition I, along with two friends, have entered the following events:
22 Feb - Sussex Beacon Half Marathon finished in 1:47:14 29 Feb - Eastbourne Half Marathon finished in 1:43:52 15 Mar - Fleet Half Marathon finished in 1:43:06 22 Mar - Maidstone 17.3 miles finished in 2:21:28 29 Mar - Cranleigh 21.1 miles finished in 2:49:49
26 Apr - London Marathon
So you can see I am taking this all rather too seriously.
I have two targets – one is to complete the London Marathon hopefully within 4 hours, the second is to raise £3,000 for Get Kids Going!
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Get Kids Going! gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now!
