We exist to meet local mental health needs & promote good mental health for everybody by providing high quality, tailored services, information & support. We strive for a society where people suffering from mental illness & their carers have a high quality of life & realise their potential.

Story

Message from Kirsten - Those of you who are aware of my background will know of my reasons and determination to do what I can to raise awareness of mental health issues. A big thing for me is getting rid of the stigma and preconceptions surrounding mental heath. It is important to bring it out in the open, and by letting people know that there is help out there, people may become less afraid to ask for that help. Working with Emma and the team at Richmond MIND enables me to contribute to that. It is a job that I love and find hugely rewarding. The knowledge that we reach out to those people in need and hopefully make a difference to their lives is very comforting.

Over the last few years, I have found that by giving myself a physical challenge, it helps me to focus my energy. My achievements have been: The Great River Race (rowing 26 miles up the Thames), a sprint triathlon and more recently a 10k run with Emma (they call it a fun run but believe me it wasn't fun!!). And so we come to the half marathon. I was talked into doing this by a friend (who has since pulled out and yes you know who you are!!!). This is a massive test of my commitment and stamina (not to mention my poor suffering joints) and will be by far my biggest challenge.

Message from Emma - Running a half marathon is one thing, running a mental health charity is another!  I find running itself is good for my mental health, which means I am better able to stay on top of life and my job at Richmond MIND.  Richmond MIND is a REALLY good charity.  Being less than 'fully functioning' and 'successful' can be especially hard in a place like Richmond - where you are surrounded by affluence and 'success'.  For the past 33 years Richmond MIND has been helping people who find themselves on the margins of our Communities, due to their mental health diagnosis, or sometimes simply because of an inability to cope with life.

At Richmond MIND we have Counselling sessions; a Carers service (if you have a loved one or relative who experiences mental distress); drop-ins and user led initiatives.  Not one of us can say that we will never need the help of services like these in the future.

So do help ensure that Richmond MIND is here in another 33 years by supporting us in our 'fun run' !!

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: RBMIND will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

With good vibes
