Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. I've finished! What a day and what an amazing experience. My time of 4 hours and 8 minutes is slower than I had originally hoped but given the problems with my legs over the last two weeks, there was a big danger that I wouldn't manage to complete it at all so I'm delighted with the result. Apart from the heavy rain at Tower Bridge and again at the end, the weather was ideal with light winds and moderate temperature. The thing that amazed me the most was the unfailing support of the crowds who shouted themselves hoarse in support. I lost count of the number of times that I was struggling and heard a voice shouting out "come on Rich, you're doing well" (I had my name printed on my top). My legs were giving me trouble from near the start but I mantained a reasonable pace until about mile 23. At that time, I realised that if I wanted to complete it in under 4 hours, I would need to step up the pace. I did this for a mile but completely died at 24 miles! I then jogged/walked the rest until in sight of the finishing line. I'm delighted and honoured to have run on behalf of Refuge. It isn't such a high profile charity as many and the unpleasant issues it deals with are those we wish weren't part of our society. This makes its work and our support all the more vital. I've also been touched by the huge financial/emotional support I've received from friends, family, colleagues and clients. I'd like to thank everyone of you. If you haven't yet sponsored me then it isn't too late! So please sponsor me now!
