Yes I am running a marathon but in two halves!! The Brighton Half Marathon in Feb and then the Cambridge Half Marathon three weeks later in March.
Last year I raised money for myeloma.uk after my father was diagnosed with this form of cancer. Over a year on and he has gone into remission after a very successful operation - thanks to the Royal Free and Royal Sussex hospitals in London and Brighton.
This year however, my best man at my wedding, Mark Viney, has been diagnosed with lymphoma and is currently undergoing chemotherapy. I have never met someone more positive about life and intend on raising money for cancer research so that he, my father and millions of other people affected by any 'oma' can receive advanced treatments and techniques that my father benefited from last year.
After the birth of my son shortly after last year's Bristol Half Marathon I have a very different outlook on life and it is even more important to me to raise money to fund research. Running the Brighton Half Marathon is significant to Mark and I because that is our home town and I am running the Cambridge Half Marathon because that is where I currently live.
