Story
Tom Daniels and Myself are riding our bikes down Snowdon on Wednesday the 9th of April.
This in itself is a challenge due to the constant changes In conditions, gradients and surfaces. But after realising that we can't get our bikes up Snowdon without person power ( this is where it gets difficult ) Downhill bikes do what they say on the tin. Go downhill! They very much struggle with the up-hill bit as they weigh as much as the Mountain itself and have tyres wider than those of a small car. This leaves one option... PUSH!
So the plan is to start early and summit Snowdon as soon as possible and then to get back as quickly and safely as possible!
We're doing this as it is coming up to the 2nd anniversary of the death of one of Rick's closest friends Stuart Tyrer.
On the 10th April 2012 our best friend, Stuart Tyrer, decided to embark on a hike he had been wanting to do for a very long time. Stuart had volunteered to work at a branch of Elis Brigham in the Snowdonia area and had been excited to climb Mount Snowdon on his first available day off.
Stuart left for his solo hike on the morning of Tuesday 10th April 2012 and had reached the summit later that day. He text his parent to say he has reached the summit but unfortunately not too soon after Stuart tragically slipped and fell to his death. The alarm was raised by colleagues at work when he did not arrive home at the time he said he would. Mountain Rescue and C flight 22 Sqn RAF were called and the search began that evening. The Search and rescue teams searched throughout the night and finally discovered Stuart’s body on the morning of the 11th.
