Story

Hi and thanks for visiting our fundraising page for Demelza! This page is for everyone sponsoring any of the riders taking part in the 50 mile sponsored cycle event to raise money for Demelza House Childrens Hospice on Sunday 13th June 2010 organised by DCB Kent Limited.

Apart from 5 regular cyclists the rest of us taking part are putting our butts on the line (well, saddle really) to do something we wouldn't normally do and something that many of us are unsure even if we are able to complete! All ages, all sizes, all fitness levels are in the team; one goal - to raise some money for the fantastic work that the Demelza Childrens Hospice at Sittingbourne and Eltham do for the families they support. It takes millions of pounds to run these hospices each year and less than 10% of that comes from public funds. That means over 90% of the work Demelza do can only be done through the kindness of those who support them.

Supporting children with life limiting conditions and their families could be one of the saddest and heaviest burdens you could take on. Not so at Demelza; it's about fun, happiness, laughter, love and yes - tears, but support through and beyond the lives of the children that are cared for here is unequalled. I love this hospice and I love to visit whenever I get the chance. I always come away buzzing and satisfied that no matter how many bad things going on around this world, there really are good people doing good things for those who need it most. But they need our help...

Please take the time to donate something on this page and don't forget to leave a message for the person you are sponsoring! It is completely secure, you need not worry about card fraud on this site.

Thank you very much
