Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 2014 · 10 August 2014 ·

We collect used bicycles in the UK and we ship them, in containers, to people who need them in Africa. Some people living in rural African communities walk miles everyday to reach water, school, work or healthcare. Bikes are a sustainable mode of transport and help change lives for many families.

Story

A few months ago, I was lucky enough to get a place in the ballot for this year's Ride London 100-mile cycle...Hmmmmm, I thought, 100 miles in a day... that sounds like.....a long, long way.

Then I noticed said cycle ride could be done on a tandem! Oh yes! What better way to pass through 100 miles of Surrey countryside than staring at your sister's rear?!

So, here we are, with just 10 days to go, and 100 long miles ahead of us, we're hoping you might keep us going with a kind donation to one of our chosen charities.

They are: Recycle, a UK-based organisation that has sent nearly 60,000 used bikes to Ghana, Malawi, Zambia, Namibia and many other parts of Africa. Bicycles change lives, helping people to travel to school, work and hospital and making water and firewood collection that bit easier (and quicker). We're extremely grateful to Action Bikes in Whitton who have kindly lent us their trusty tandem. Action Bikes are big supporters of Recycle, and so are we!

And: Brain Tumour Research, a collective of 22 UK brain tumour charities working together to raise vital funds for research into the prevention and treatment of brain tumours, as well as ultimately finding a cure. We have lost two very close friends to brain tumours, and we'll be thinking of them both, and their families and friends, on 10 August.

Thanks for your support!
