RNID- Cycle London to Paris · 26 June 2009 ·

Imagine being told your toddler you thought was healthy, but perhaps slow to progress, in fact had a rare and devastating disability that would leave them needing lifelong 24/7 care. Rett syndrome changes lives irrevocably. With your support Rett UK is there from the beginning. #ToKnowHerIsToLoveHer

Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. This is my granddaughter, Evie who is now 7. Evie has Rett Syndrome. She cannot walk, talk or use her hands, but she understands lots and is working hard to learn how to communicate using pictures and simple devices. Evie endures a number of medical problems everyday, including scoliosis, respiratory problems, reflux, gastrointestinal problems and epilepsy. Researchers are working hard to find treatments for the disorder and are making good progress. I am going to cycle from London to Paris in June this year to raise money for the Rett Syndrome Association in the UK where Evie lives. RSAUK supports families affected by Rett Syndrome and also helps to fund research. I would be very pleased if you could make a donation to this cause to benefit Evie and other sufferers of this disorder. Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It's also the most efficient way to sponsor me: RETT syndrome Association UK gets your money faster and, if you're a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation. So please sponsor me now!
