Thanks for taking the time to visit my page.  Try not to get too bored and keep reading!  My name is Andy Wilkinson I live in York, sell the odd quality portable building, play golf too little and very badly, swim, bike & run occasionally.

Having entered my mid-life crisis, this is my attempt to raise a bit of cash for a very worthy cause. Candlelighters is a Yorkshire-based charity dedicated to helping support children with cancer or serious blood disorders, and their families, whilst at the same time promoting research into childhood cancer.

Each year some 150 children and teenagers in Yorkshire are referred to the Specialist Unit in Leeds.  The news that a child has cancer is devastating and distressing to the child and their family.  From the time of diagnosis families have to readjust and learn to cope with a life of many uncertainties and disruptions.

Candlelighters also aims to find a cure for childhood cancer.  For this to happen money is needed for research, the more research is done, the faster the cures and possible causes will be found.

So here's some questions answered.....

What? I aim to complete the Leeds Triathlon.  The triathlon combines swimming, cycling and running which is completed over the Olympic distance.  This starts with a 1.5Km swim, followed by a 40Km cycle and a 10Km run.  You might think this sounds a bit challenging and you'd be right!  But a reduction in the Guinness intake and an increase in the training should mean I'll be ok.

When?  It takes place on 12th September 2010

Why? Good question! Having done a bit of exercise during the winter to avoid becoming too tubby I thought all that effort could be put to good use by doing some good.  Maybe if I encourage my kids to do more exercise then that would be a bonus!

I know we all get asked for donations all the time but if you can spare a few quid to help a really good cause.

How? (You not me!) That's the easy bit, through this website. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

If your local to Easingwold then put your name down on the sheet and handover some cash in one of the quality establishments.....
