Story
We completed the 3 peaks challenge in 23 hours and 15 minutes!
The national 3 peaks challenge encompasses the highest peaks in England (Scafel Pike), Scotland (Ben Nevis) and Wales (Snowdon) with the aim being to climb all to their summits and descend again within 24 hours including the time taken to travel between them.
However, we aren't doing this just for fun! We are hoping to raise at least £1500 for the RNLI in the process.
The Royal National Lifeboat Institute is a charity, run by volunteers, that is responsible for rescuing those in need of help along the coastline of Britain.
These brave men go out in the worst imaginable conditions and save hundreds of lives at sea each year FOR NO PAY! In 2006 the RNLI rescued 8,015 people (22 each day) and each launch costing up to £5,800. To keep this 24-hour on-call service who cover search and rescue requirements up to 100 nautical miles of the UK and ROI coastline, it cost approximately £122.3 million. They receive no government funding and are completely reliant on donations.
As some of you may know, the RNLI helped us out in LochAline, so we owe them a great deal. Without the help from this amazing service the situation could have become much worse.
This will be quite a challenge for all of us so please support and sponsor us generously.
All the money raised will go to the RNLI. We will be paying any costs incurred ourselves.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: RNLI - Royal National Lifeboat Institution will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Many thanks for your support.
Sven, Tom, Chris and Nick.
