The Challenge

In the Winter of 2011/12 a group of three friends (aka team Road Rajah) will pack as little as possible, travel across the world to India, lavishly decorate their rickshaw, climb aboard and learn to drive it before embarking on an adventure of a lifetime across this remarkable nation.

The Rickshaw Run’s principle is a pretty simple one. Do your damndest to force 145cc of glorified lawnmower over thousands of miles of questionable terrain in two weeks with no support at all!

We start in the north-west town of Jaisalmer with the destination of Cochin in our sights.  Dirt tracks, tropical jungle, monsoons, massive deserts and many other wondrous things stand between us and the finish line.

There is no set route, no race, no support and no change of pants, only the three of us relying on wits, cunning, and good looks to make it through in one piece. That, and the finest Indian transportation device of course.

The Charity

The Rickshaw Run continues to raise money for FRANK water projects and we are taking part to help raise more.  FRANK Water is a tap water company whose mission is to fund sustainable tap water facilities around the world for rural villagers living below the poverty line.

Over one billion people worldwide lack access to clean drinking water and more than two million people die every year from dirty water-related diseases. These especially affect children under the age of five.

FRANK Water works with a local Indian Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) called Naandi, to build and support community clean water projects. Every pound donated to FRANK gives one person access to clean, healthy water for life.

The Target

Our initial target is to raise £1,000 for FRANK.  Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate and raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

We would really appreciate whatever you can afford to contribute to help us reach our target.
