Hi - thanks for taking the time to read this.
From 29th April - 10th June 2010 I will be participating in an Arctic Expedition to cross the entire of Greenland, covering approximately 700 miles across the Ice-Cap from the east to the west coast. I will carry out the crossing only by foot and using nordic skis. I will be responsible for man-hauling my own and part of the team's survival equipment. This comes up to 120 kilos per person, all stuffed into a pulk, an arctic form of sledge. Throughout the crossing, I will be facing temperatures of up to -40 degrees celcius.
I have decided to use this oportunity to raise funds for the charity Marie Curie Cancer Care - in order to help aid those unfortunate enough to have this disease in any of its forms and their families. All funds raised with your help, will be donated to the charity in memory of my mum, Tina, who passed away in late 2006 after a short but brave battle with pancreatic cancer. Marie Curie helped a lot in Mum's last days, taking great care of her and all our family and friends in those extremely difficult times and I feel it's only fair to give something back to them so they can continue with their great work. So I'd really appreciate any amount you can donate towards this fantastic charity.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Once again, thank you for your time and your support, I really appreciate it.
Roan
