Hello!
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.I've been prompted to "tell a story" here (as if I've ever needed an excuse), but don't worry, I'll keep it brief..!
A couple of my mates have done the Cardiff half marathon before, and every time it comes around I always consider that it might be a good idea for me to embark on such a physical challenge...for about 5 minutes, over a bag of Ready Salted. Well, this year I've finally got my act together and signed up!
To be honest, the straw that broke the camel's back came while playing Wii Fit back in January. The rotund (and slowly expanding) frame of my Mii was no joke, but there's only so far ski jump and hula hooping can take your fitness level really isn't there? My personal goal is to get properly physically fit, possibly for the first time in my adult life!
Now, I don't expect any support for addressing my lazy exercising habits and penchant for savoury snacks, but I have chosen a really excellent cause to raise sponsorship for, which will motivate my training:
The Welbodi Partnership is a charity that works to improve standards of paediatric healthcare in Sierra Leone, in partnership with the Ola During Children's Hospital in Freetown. It is a very sobering statistic that one in four children in this country die before their fifth birthday, mainly through very treatable diseases. I first came into contact with Welbodi soon after the charity was established in 2007, through designing their website at work. This was a slightly unusual way to become acquainted with a charity, but in doing so I got to speak with all of the guys driving this project forward and I genuinely can think of no worthier cause.

I didn't write this bit, but just for your piece of mind...
