Well, after cycling about 14,000km over 10 months solely for own pleasure, we thought we would do something to raise some money for charity, so we are planning to set ourselves a bit of a challenge for the last leg home. From St. Moritz we will cross the Alps and cycle through France, then cross the channel on a ferry before cycling back to Hackney (whatever is left of it). We plan to cover 1,200km in 12 days or less in order to make sure we work for your hard earned pounds.
The charity we have chosen is one Rob found out about a couple of years ago when he met the Chief Exec, Jamie. They are doing some really fantastic things with young people who are at risk of being excluded from school using a very innovative approach. In their words...
Jamie's Farm aims to engage young people who are at risk of social exclusion by giving them an intensive experience of living and working on a farm. Jamie’s Farm exists to transform the lives of hard to reach children in challenging urban schools, by providing a unique combination of ‘farming, family and therapy’ through a short stay residential and follow up programme. They aim to re-engage children with educational life, and enable them to fulfil their potential both in school and the wider social setting.
