Virgin London Marathon 2014 · 13 April 2014 ·

Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The Stroke Association is the only charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Most of us know someone who's been impacted by or suffered from a stroke and I'd like to help the Stroke Association with the good work they do.

Most people will know I've become a keen runner since entering my first charity event in 2011, but this is my toughest challenge yet. I've managed to get a place at the 2014 London Marathon (Sunday April 13th) and have set myself a challenge of completing it in less than 3hrs 20min, which will get me an automatic "good for age" place next year (by which time I'll be the ripe old age of 50). To give my best chance of achieving this goal, I've been training like crazy (going out in all weathers at various unsociable times) and have given up alcohol for the month leading up to the race.

I really hope you'll sponsor me and help make it all worthwhile. If you can come along and cheer me on, all the better!
