Story

Starting on the 10th September 2011, Marc Richardson, Sean Richardson and Robbi Malandreniotis (team name: 'Gandhi Warhol') are driving a wholly inappropriate vehicle across the variable (but mainly difficult) terrain of India and Nepal.

The aim is to raise funds for Frank Water Projects (the first £500, already raised, thanks to paddypower.com who have most generously donated £1,000 in total) and Moorfields Eye Charity (all additional money raised). Robbi's twin brother suffers from Macular Degeneration. This inspired participation in this challenge to raise funds for Moorfields, a centre of excellence for research on retinal conditions.

The mighty moto-rickshaw (with a neck-jerking 2 horsepower per passenger) will transport the intrepid fundraisers from Shillong (Eastern India), to Darjeeling for a nice cup of tea, through Nepal and the Himalayas, through Northern/Central India including Agra for a quick Lady Diana moment at the Taj Mahal, before finishing in the desert at Jaisalmer (Western India) hopefully still alive but no doubt with broken iPhone screens and a plethora of 'interesting' stories, some of which will be true.

The distance covered is expected to be (but will likely exceed, as they are only bringing a compass, not a map) 4,000km. Oh, it will be completed in less than 2 weeks. Yes potential sponsors, that's a lot of driving per day. Marathons last 2-6 hours. The Le Mans 24 Hour lasts for 24 hours. This challenge: almost 300 hours of which over 150 hours will be spent on the 'road'.

Team Gandhi Warhol have decided to add to the adventure by completing preparation that is exclusively limited to: a) getting visas/inoculations, and b) briefly looking at Google maps.

Thank you for taking the time to read down this far and if you donate thank you for your kindness and generosity. All the best. Robbi.
