My story

'Robbie' the Robot has arrived!

Thanks to a generous donation, the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust has acquired a da Vinci robot, the latest in state of the art robotic assisted surgery.

Initially surgeons are using Robbie to perform prostate cancer operations, but 'his' use will soon be expanded to other specialities including gynaecology and bowel surgery.

'The robot offers a less painful procedure with a quicker recovery time and fewer side effects and has so far proven to be equally effective as open surgery for dealing with cancer, as well as being less likely to cause impotence or incontinence.'  Surgeon, Lt. Col. Zaheer Shah

Over the next three years, Reading and District Hospitals Charity is committed to raising the one million pounds needed to keep the da Vinci robot in Reading.

Please give your support and keep 'Robbie' the Robot in Berkshire.
