Story

This is the first time I will attempt a full standard (olympic) distance triathlon (and probably also the last). It is also the first ever full distance Bristol Triathlon, taking place on Sunday 3rd July, which makes it a pair of firsts and adds to the excitement.

By all accounts the full distance tri is a gruelling feat of mind over misery (especially on a mountain bike), but having done a sprint distance race a few weeks ago as practice, I am now hopeful to at least make it all the way round even if it is in a state of wreckage by the end.

The course is a one mile swim through the historic Bristol harbour, 40k cycle along the Portway under the 'spension bridge and then to top it off a 10k run, any one of which should really be plenty for a sunday afternoon when anyone sensible would be enjoying a sunday roast with all the trimmings.

It should be an entertaining day and feel free to come along, lend some support and watch me crawl across the finish line if you be around (more details at www.tribristol.org)

I would greatly appreciate any sponsorship which will go to SARA (Severn Lifeboats) who are raising funds for a new Lifeboat at Sharpness Station. All donations go directly to saving lives as SARA is staffed entirely by volunteers and completely reliant on donations. For more info on the organisation visit www.sara-rescue.org.uk
