Great Scottish Run 2008 · 7 September 2008 ·

Our investigators, lawyers and campaigners fight for those who need it most – people on death row, people held without charge or trial, people tortured and people targeted by illegal and lethal drone attacks.

Story

Yes, you read correctly, Rob Cannings is going to run the 10k in Glasgow this September. Only 10k? Well yes, but let's remember this is me...

Anyway, more importantly, I'm doing this for something I strongly believe in.  As you can see from the blurb to the left, Reprieve are a charity that defend people who have had their human rights withheld, unlawlfully and often brutally.  Perhaps the most prominant aspect of their work is with a number of inmates at Guantanamo Bay.  These are people who have been detained, in many cases, without evidence, without proper legal defence and without ever being tried of any offence (42 Days? Try 5 or 6 years...)

Reprieve also deal with many other cases where people's basic human rights are ignored, here are some examples - http://www.reprieve.org.uk/casework.htm

As I've never done anything like this before I have no idea what kind've sum I'm aiming for, so even the smallest amount would be greatly appreciated.  I'm not setting a time limit, as anyone who really knows me could testify, completion itself would be enough of an achievement!

Cheers then, Rob.
